ART110:Wk11: Classmate Interview: Kyndra McDaniel


Kyndra McDaniel is 19 years old. She will be turning 20 at May 17th. Kyndra is from Las Vegas, Nevada. She has attended and graduated from Antelope Valley high school in Lancaster, California. She thinks being in college is more stressful than high school. High school had a lot more rules than college. This is because classes are demanding and she has to think more about his future and getting a job to pay for all the expenses that comes with being an adult.

Kyndra is a sophomore here. She just got accepted in to the csulb bachelors social work program. Kyndra’s major is social work, because she would like to help improve the lives of others by providing, support, resources, and stability. She thinks that social work is the best major that will allow her to do all of those things and to become a geriatric social worker. Kyndra was influenced by the relationship with her grandmother, talking with elderly people in her everyday life, and by working with geriatric participants at an adult day health care center last summer. Kyndra would like to be a geriatric social worker. This type of social workers work with the elderly population.

Kyndra feels good that she was accepted into such a competitive and highly valued school. It is the most out of her college education at csulb.  She feels good to go to a school right next to the beach and also enjoys the beautiful campus. Kyndra really loves csulb a lot. This school has so much to offer her. She hopes to make many more friends while attending this school to help her experience here even better. CSULB has many award winning and top ranking programs. She felt that he was making a great decision when choosing where to further his education.

Kyndra commutes from Los Angeles and she lives thirty-three miles away. It takes her about thirty-four minute to get to school from her house if she does not get stuck in LA traffic. Kyndra has three half brothers, and five half sisters, and one brother. She is the youngest in her family. Kyndra’s oldest brother has been a firefighter and a paramedic for fifteen years. She is really close with her full brother because they are the closest in age being only two years apart. Kyndra’s brother currently be a student at Cal State University Of Northridge. Her oldest sister ,mom, niece, and nephews live in Las vegas. Kyndra always has tons of fun when she goes back to visit them during the summer. Her middle name is her grandmother’s first name and they are really close. Her family just celebrated her grandmother’s 80th birthday last month.

Kyndra enjoys observing art. This because it is very expressive and it can mean multiple things to multiple people. What she also likes about art is that there are a lot of flexibility, no rigid rules, and no cookie cutter mold for art. This makes art something to create that is all up to the artist. Kyndra likes Art 110 because she thinks we do assignments that are fun, new, and out the ordinary.

Kyndra loves to read, watch movies, take pictures, go out to eat, listen to music, play sports, and hang out with friends. Her favorite colors are teal and lime green. Her favorite animal is a humming bird. Her Favorite foods are pasta, orange chicken, and burritos. Her favorite sport is volley-ball. She was on the volley-ball team in high school and she also ran track.

Kyndra has worked before at CVS Pharmacy and at Graceful Senescence Adult Day Health Care Center. Both of these work experiences allowed her to improve his communication skill, customer service skill, and punctuality. She has learned a lot of vital skill sets working in these two places, have meet interesting people, and worked along-side great employees.
