ART110 wK5: Classmate Interview: Mark Spencer Tan


Mark Spencer Tan is 18 years old. He was born in philippines. Mark is 1/4 chinese and 3/4 filipino. He moved to the USA when he was 9 years old.  This is his second semester in CSULB. Mark choose this school because it is the closest california state university around. He commutes by using the bus. Mark lives with his mom ,stepmom, grandfather and his little sister together. It is probably about 30 minutes away by bus and 15 minutes by car. He doesn’t have a driving license yet, but he’ll get one soon.  At present, Mark enjoys the life in Long beach because there are many places here he’d like spend time on. He loves the beach nearby and downtown near the pier area. He likes going to the movie theaters, the arcades and even a lighthouse there. The scenery there is beautiful.

Mark wants to be a video game designer in the future, that’s why he took on computer science as a major. He likes studying at CSULB because they have a good engineering program there and his major too. (I have a little confused here) “It is really tough to understand and analyze sometime, but I think I’ll get the hang of it over time.”  

Mark’s favorite kind of art is just painting , with the theme of nature. His favorite color is blue. Mark has many hobbies. His favorite sport is badminton. However, Mark doesn’t play badminton so much at all. He used to play during high school but now he doesn’t have time any more. He just play with a friend sometimes after they work out. Mark likes to Draw and doodle, Listen to music( he likes hip-hop and pop), play his ukulele, play video games such as League of Legends, and hang out with his friends. He also loves to eat! His favorite food is spaghetti.

Mark is very patient and helpful. When I lost my way for my car’s parking, he explained every detail to me very carefully! I’m glad to be a friend with him!
